Pay Your Pension Some Attention

You don’t need to be a pension expert to make the most of your hard-earned money.

The Pay Your Pension Some Attention campaign is back for a second time, to help you get to grips with your pension. This year's campaign, which stars 80s icon Timmy Mallet, is encouraging members to look back to yesterday and uncover your pension so you can maximise your future.

You can find out more by visiting pensionattention.co.uk and youtube.com

It focusses on 3 key steps:

1 - Look back to yesterday

People often have many jobs over a lifetime. Do you know where all of your pension pots are from previous careers? If not, don’t worry! Visit nationalpensiontracingday.co.uk/step-by-step and follow their step-by-step guide to trace old pensions and make sure you don’t lose out on what you’re owed.

2 - Lean in to what you’ve got today

Register or log in to your account regularly to make sure your details, as well as your Expression of Wish/Nomination Forms, are up to date. Check your letters, emails, and pension documents to get a clear picture of what you have now, and if applicable, to monitor or change your investments

3 - Move forward to your future

It can be tricky knowing how much you’ll need in retirement, but there are a few ways to get a better insight. For example, you can:

  • Use the  Government’s retirement calculator - to see how much you might get when you retire, including income from the State Pension.
  • Use your Lifestyle Calculator - to start planning for the lifestyle you want after work. This considers things like how many holidays you’d like to take per year, where you plan on living, and leisure activities.
