Reformed SLC section: Final Salary + Care
The reformed SLC section of the Scheme has two different structures for building up benefits – Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) and Final Salary. Both are forms of defined benefit (DB) pension.

If you left the SLC section on or before 31st March 2024, or are a protected person under the Scottish Protected Person Regulations, you are more likely to be in the SLC section which provide benefits on a Final Salary basis.
